First Law: A comet seen in transition, trapped in a moment of time.
Second Law: A comet, sits at the end of its trajectory, showing its impact.
This is a new series of work for Haigh Hall, commissioned by Wigan Council and funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England. The work is in collaboration with Plincke. Curated by Al & Al. Initial develop with Bren O Callaghan.
These two comets compliment each other, although they are opposites. One is floating between space, caught in a perpetual moment in time, the other has most certainly crashed and reached its final resting point! The fact that both comets are clearly in different states adds to the gravity in which the other is presented.  One is trapped in space or suggest that it may crash at any given moment, the other most certainly has, but what pulled or caused the comets to crash in the woodland? Is it suggested that one exists in its own space, its own transition whilst the other has been pulled away from its previous location.

There are many occasions in life when we are waiting for things to happen or we try to predict when things will happen, maybe the next appearance of a comet or the next storm. Some times we don’t know what that outcome will be or what impact it will have. But when it happens we can draw from the data and evidence of what has been left behind or is presented to us. To help us understand how an event happened or what caused it. These two pieces offer a end point and a transitional moment. Much like our own experience with comets.
